América

La existencia del Carmelo en tierras americanas se remonta a 1583 en Brasil, cuando la Provincia de Portugal fundó el Carmelo en la ciudad de Olinda, Pernambuco. Por otro lado, la misión en los Estados Unidos, especialmente en Norte América, se fundó en 1864 por dos misioneros alemanes de la Provincia Alemana Superior: Cyril Knoll y Xavier Huber. En 1889, un grupo de frailes formado por Edward Southwell, Michale Daly y Philip McDonald se trasladaron de la Provincia de Irlanda para formar el Carmelo en Nueva York. Con lo que respecta a la misión en América Latina, las fundaciones tomaron lugar en los siguientes años: Venezuela en 1922 por la Provincia Catalana y 1954 por la Provincia Bética; en Argentina, la República Dominicana y Puerto Rico en 1920 por las provincias Arago-Castilla y Valencia, en Perú en 1949 por la Provincia PCM, en Bolivia en 1956 por la Provincia de Malta; en México en 1995 por la Provincia PCM; en Trinidad y Tobago en 1996 por la Provincia San Elías de Nueva York; en Colombia en 1954 por la Provincia Bética y en el 2002 por la Provincia Italiana; y El Salvador en el 2014 por la Provincia PCM.
